We’d like to thank all of Ted’s readers who picked up Green. Because of you Book Zero in the Circle Series debuted on the NY Times Bestsellers List for hardcovers. And we just received word that it’s holding in the Top 25. Thanks for making this story such a success! If you haven’t checked it out yet, stop by your local store or read what others are saying about Green.

Could you blame it? It’s good enough to beat the secular counterparts to shame!
Hmm, not really sure. Whilst I love the Circle trilogy, I’m really not convinced about the ending of Green. As it’s now a “Full Circle” will Thomas have to fail again and again?
It feels like some sort of Nirvana-like never-ending tragedy where Thomas is forced to make the same mistakes over and over again. Is Ted going to write another book with an alternate ending to Green where Thomas will succeed at his second attempt?
I can see how it works as a prequel, but as a sequel it’s quite unsatisfying. You’d always hope there’s some sort of glimpse of eternity and heaven at the end, reunion with Elyon and the like – especially as “Green” is in many ways like the “Book of Revelation”.
While I certainly see what you mean about the ending being a never-ending tragedy, I have to say that the ending was quite brilliant to me. Thomas is a tragic hero, and in being so he is pre-destined to be trapped in a cycle of wrong and right decisions. WE ALL ARE! The glimpse of Elyon and heaven that he gets at the end before he chooses to stay and save one more soul, Samuel, well, isn’t that enough? Wouldn’t that be enough for any one of us to see that one tiny little glimpse of eternal bliss and then make that choice to stay here and bring over just one more soul? In some ways I think deep down we all know that is what is expected of us, but to have the strength that Thomas showed to save someone he loved, that is the most beautiful ending possible. Ted, I could never say enough “thank you’s” for becoming a writer, you have honestly changed my life. YES, I AM DIVING DEEP!
Who’s to say its Thomas’ second attempt? =P
Trilogy’s have to end somewhere and Ted ended it perfectly. Green really changed my perspective on things and how much we’re loved and how much it hurts God when we stray from Him. Thank Ted for the amazing books.
I have a love/hate relatioship with Green..but mostly I LOVE IT! I hate it b/c the reality is “cheer up saint its going to get worse” here on earth there will never be perfection..we can’t make it perfect. If we could why would we need God?
i just finished green & i read it after the circle trilogy.
And it was absolutely amazing!
i’m going to go back & read sinner, saint, & showdown. ted dekker is absolutely amazing!
Thomas is such an inspiring character. would you really do anything (living or dying again) to save just one soul? even if it is your own child who goes against every word you say!?
it makes you think we have one life to live.
so let it be a life we give.
Ted,
ive read them all.
thank you.
I think the ending with Green is excellent. For those who are just starting with this book they will be hooked and have to read the Black Red White series. For those of us who already red those, now we have more details to go back. I had totally forgotten that Bill is in the first book and now I know who he really IS ??? AWESOME!!!
By the way, I think to do any different ending would take away from the true ending that is waiting for all of us at the end of our story. To be with Elyon in the true Narnia where there is not more tears and no more sorrow.
It is true that right now we see through a glass darkly but we know that when we see him we will be like him for we shall see him as he is!! I disagree with the post that “oh boy its going to get worse”. In case you all haven’t noticed It is getting worse. Every day we are just one step closer to the Raison Strain, taking us over, however it will manifest itself. It is soo important that Like Ted we find ways to express our true natures and be the Thomas Hunter that he’s called us to be.
a side note, I could really see a book about Saint Thomas the Beast Hunter now..
So I just finished Green and really loved it. This series has completely changed my outlook on, or more like opened my eyes to God’s love and how we should respond to that. I am, however, confused. I agree that it seems as if Thomas is now stuck in a never ending cycle of grief and failure, always doomed to lose Samuel and start over. There seems to be a loss of hope in a sense, and I am also confused by the statement “That’s what I do with all humans anyway.” What does this mean, can someone please explain?
I agree with Scott. Green has also changed how I see God. As I was reading Green I was wondering to myself why are all the people out there that believe in God not worshiping him like how they worship Elyon in Green. Why wont we do that? In my church we have special needs people and when we sing they clap and dance along with the music. The little kids do that too. I was just like why cant we get out of our comfort zones and dance around for God! I admit that I like to stay in my confort zone. WAKE UP PEOPLE and worship the Lord, God like worship is suposed to be!
I just finished green about five minutes ago and did really enjoy it. I am a little thrown at the ending in that it makes it seem a little re-incarnation like, but overall it was a good series. I have read almost every book by Ted Dekker except Kiss and would encourage everybody to complete the circle all of it. I bet he makes a book that goes into the center of the circle as the unifying book just like the pendant where the circle is well around the cross. That would make a great ending b/c it is through the cross that we find salvation.
Oh my gosh! Green was amazing! It had an amazing twist and I loved it! It’s kind of sad though, now that the series is over! Keep writing Ted!
Green was good! But, does Thomas just have to keep enduring the pain and fight the Shataiki over and over again? Ted i believe you should write another book of history from the series, about the new world across the river, that Johnis, Silvie, Darsal, and Malak [ i think was his name] discover. Maybe battle those Leedhans even though i thought possession was a bit out of the subject.
Love your books though
Clayton
Green was an awesome book except for the ending! I agree with those above, it leads to an endless cycle and I would like to see a good explanation for it.
This book is out of print in my country

What a great wedding anniversary idea! My husband and I were married in Key West 5 years ago, and just went on vacation back there. It is so neat to go back to places where you made your first memories with someone. You should have put something similar to the last picture on your wedding invitations. That would have been neat!
